Open border increases risk of malaria outbreak

Kanchanpur: Kanchanpur is reeling under a high risk of malaria due to open border with India. Number of patients entering into the country with malaria epidemic from India is on the rise every year.

Number of people infected by malaria which is transmitted from mosquito bite has reached 22 during the past three months in Kanchanpur.

Most of the malaria affected people are those returning home from India. Four among the infected are found to be Indians.

As many as 135 patients were detected with malaria in the fiscal year 2074/75 BS (2018 AD).

High alert has been put in place at western border checkpoint in Gaddachauki to prevent the possible outbreak of malaria in Nepal.
