Kathmandu : Norvic International Hospital (NIH) has today inaugurated its newly installed advanced (GE Optima IGS 320) Cathlab amidst a colorful function organized to mark the 19th ‘World Heart Day (WHD)’ 2019. Norvic’s Chairman Poet/Lyricist Basant K Chaudhary inaugurated the new interventional facility.
The modern cathlab inaugurated today belongs to 3rd generation after Norvic introduced the country 1st cathlab in August, 2000.
The new cathlab has the advanced features such as Online DSA (Digital Subtraction Angiography) road maping that helps in complex cardiac, peripheral, renal interventions and neuro-navigations with much safety, clarity, accuracy and speed.
Norvic organized various programmes today to mark the week long celebrations of World Heart Day (WHD). The World Heart Day is celebrated worldwide on call of World Heart Federation (WHF) to help people better understand and create awareness on cardiovascular diseases including hypertension.
Heart diseases are increasing globally because of high consumption of tobacco, alcohol, high blood pressure (hypertension), high cholesterol, obesity/overweight, physical inactivity, sedentary lifestyle, stress, diabetes, unhealthy diets and various other reasons.
Cardiovascular disease claims nearly 17.5 million lives worldwide annually and about 7-8% of urban Nepalese population suffers from this deadly disease.
The theme of the world heart day this year is “Be a Heart Hero”.
Around 200 patients operated at Norvic during the last year took part in this programme where the Chairman of the hospital – Mr. Basant K. Chaudhary was the Chief Guest.
While welcoming the auspicious gathering, Norvic’s Sr. Consultant Cardiologist & Director Cardiology, Prof. Dr. Yadav Dev Bhatta highlighted on Norvic’s specialized services and its plans and achievements in the field of Cardiology made so far. Dr. Bhatta also highlighted on the specialized services of other medical department at Norvic.
While sharing his views, Sr. Consultant Physician & Cardiologist Dr. J.P. Jaiswal suggested five important steps to get rid of cardiac ailments.
Dr. Prem Raj Vaidya, Cardiovascular Surgeon by profession, who underwent complex Coronary Angioplasty & Stenting at Norvic last year shared his satisfied experience during the course of his treatment (Primary Angioplasty & Stenting) after he suffered heart attack. In absence of Cathlab, two decades ago he lost his elder brother due to heart attack and later his father’s Cardiac Surgery was also performed at Norvic. He lauded Norvic’s pioneering role in treating heart diseases including Nepal’s first heart Surgery in beating heart state in 2002.
On the occasion, 10 elderly cardiac patients, who underwent complex Coronary Angioplasty & Stenting (PTCA); Cardiac Surgeries at Norvic last year were felicitated by the Chief Guest.
The Chief Guest of the function Mr. Basant K. Chaudhary while addressing the gathering reiterated to further upgrade and introduce the world’s latest medical technologies at Norvic for the people of Nepal.
He also announced the foundation stone laying of Norvic’s new building complex that will take place on October 26 converting the hospital into 256 bedded multi-specialty super specialized hospital of south Asia. The 8-storey tower will be equipped with the world’s latest technologies in health care and no one needs to visit foreign country for specialized treatment, Mr. Chaudhary said.
The function was concluded with vote of thanks from Norvic’s Managing Director & chairperson of the program Ms. Megha Chaudhary.
